The 2025 EX90 may discharge up to 4,000 kWh in any rolling 365‑day period. The available bidirectional discharge balance is replenished daily by the amount of energy discharged exactly 365 days earlier. At no time may cumulative discharges within the most recent 365 days exceed 4,000 kWh. This budget ensures that you can enjoy the benefits of bidirectional charging while helping to protect your battery’s long-term health and warranty. It’s important to know that battery health is influenced by many factors, and the impact of controlled bidirectional charging is minimal. Volvo Cars’ smart energy management systems work in the background to help optimize your battery’s performance and longevity. In the rare cases of extreme use like consistent DC fast charging or consistent severe environmental conditions, the discharge budget will be reduced to ensure the health of your battery and maintain its warranty.
